The #9 Baylor Bears will square off against the Arizona State Sun Devils at 5:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday at Imperial Arena at Atlantis Resort. The Bears will be strutting in after a win while ASU will be stumbling in from a loss.
Baylor entered their game this past Saturday as the heavy favorite, and they fully lived up to expectations. They put a hurting on the Stanford Cardinal at home to the tune of 86-48. Baylor got double-digit scores from four players: guard LJ Cryer (21), guard Kendall Brown (15), guard James Akinjo (11), and forward Jeremy Sochan (11).
Meanwhile, ASU was close but no cigar this past Thursday as they fell 65-63 to the San Diego State Aztecs. Despite the defeat, ASU had strong showings from forward Kimani Lawrence, who posted a double-double on 14 points and 12 boards, and guard Marreon Jackson, who had 16 points and seven assists in addition to seven rebounds.
Arizona State’s loss took them down to 2-3 while Baylor’s victory pulled them up to 4-0. This past Saturday the Bears relied heavily on LJ Cryer, who shot 5-for-9 from downtown and finished with 21 points. It will be up to Arizona State’s defense to limit his damage.
