When the Giants fired offensive coordinator Jason Garrett this week there were lots of jokes, memes and self-congratulating tweets. However, surrounding the Giants offense moving forward, there are also lots of questions. One of them is whether Evan Engram can fulfill his potential with Garrett out of the picture.
To be clear, Engram has struggled with things before Garrett, and I don’t think Garrett was causing all those drops. But the fact is that Engram averaged more targets, catches, and yards per game before Garrett became the team’s offensive coordinator. The 27-year-old tight end averaged 11.98 PPR FPPG from 2017-19. The past two years that’s fallen to 8.6.
The fact that Engram is facing an Eagles defense that has been the worst against the tight ends this season only helps matters. And as of Friday afternoon we’re losing hope that we’ll see either Sterling Shepard or Kadarius Toney in Week 12.
If Shepard and Toney are ruled out, Engram will likely move into the top 12 in the projections below and he has even more upside than that. He’s also available in 60% of leagues.

Week 12 TE Preview
The following players are not being projected to play Week 12 at this time. Here’s what it means:
TE Preview
Numbers to Know
- 19.4 — Pat Freiermuth averaged 19.4 PPR FPPG in the two games Eric Ebron missed earlier this season.
- 0 — Dan Arnold did not see a target last week. He still played 65% of the snaps, so I’m mostly ignoring it and starting him in Week 12.
- 5 — George Kittle has never scored more than five touchdowns in a season. He has three in his past three games.
- 14.3 — Rob Gronkowski has outscored all tight ends other than Travis Kelce and Mark Andrews on a per-game basis.
- 18.8 — The Eagles have allowed 18.8 FPPG to tight ends this season. That’s nearly two points more than any other defense.
