Through 3 Quarters

Although the San Antonio Spurs came into the game as underdogs, they’re on track to steal the victory from the Boston Celtics. San Antonio currently holds a 70-65 lead.

The Spurs have enjoyed the tag-team combination of small forward Keldon Johnson and point guard Dejounte Murray. The former has dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards, while the latter has 16 points and six assists along with eight rebounds. One thing to keep an eye out for is Jakob Poeltl’s foul situation as he currently sits at four.

Shooting guard Jaylen Brown (16 points) has been the top scorer for Boston.

This is the first time San Antonio has been ahead going into the fourth quarter in the past seven games.

Current Records: Boston 10-9; San Antonio 4-13

What to Know

The San Antonio Spurs’ homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Boston Celtics at 8:30 p.m. ET Nov. 26 at AT&T Center. If the matchup is anything like Boston’s 143-140 victory from their previous meeting in April, the scorekeeper will be kept real busy.

It looks like the Spurs got the smaller half of the wishbone at Thanksgiving dinner. They took a hard 124-106 fall against the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday. San Antonio was down 103-83 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from. Shooting guard Derrick White had a pretty forgettable game, playing for 29 minutes but putting up just seven points on 3-for-12 shooting.

As for Boston, it looks like they got the smaller half of the wishbone at Thanksgiving dinner. On Wednesday, they lost to the Brooklyn Nets at home by a decisive 123-104 margin. A silver lining for Boston was the play of point guard Marcus Smart, who had 20 points and eight assists.

San Antonio is expected to lose this next one by 4.5. Those playing the odds have seen things go back and forth with the Spurs, who are 8-9 against the spread.

With the two teams each stumbling in off of a loss, both will be hungry for the win. If the Celtics want to win on Friday, they will need to focus on stopping San Antonio’s point guard Dejounte Murray, who almost posted a triple-double on 22 points, 11 dimes, and eight boards, and shooting guard Bryn Forbes, who had 23 points. We’ll see whether or not they are up to the challenge.
