Who’s Playing
Detroit @ Los Angeles
Current Records: Detroit 4-14; Los Angeles 10-8
What to Know
The Detroit Pistons have been on the wrong side of a one-way rivalry with the Los Angeles Clippers and are hoping to record their first win since Jan. 12 of 2019. The Pistons are on the road again Friday and play against Los Angeles at 3:30 p.m. ET Nov. 26 at Staples Center. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
It looks like Detroit got the smaller half of the wishbone at Thanksgiving dinner. They suffered a grim 114-93 defeat to the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday. Detroit was surely aware of their 15-point disadvantage in the point spread, but the foreknowledge did nothing to prevent the result. The top scorer for Detroit was power forward Trey Lyles (19 points).
Meanwhile, Los Angeles fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result, falling 112-104. One thing holding the Clippers back was the mediocre play of power forward Marcus Morris, who did not have his best game: he played for 30 minutes with and four turnovers.
The losses put the Pistons at 4-14 and Los Angeles at 10-8. Two defensive numbers to keep in mind before tip-off: Detroit has allowed their opponents to shoot 48% from the floor on average, which is the highest shooting percentage allowed in the league. Los Angeles’ defense has more to brag about, as they they rank fourth in the league when it comes to points allowed per game, with only 102.9 on average. So the cards are definitely stacked in their favor.
