What to Know
This Sunday, the New York Jets are hoping to patch up the holes in a defense that has allowed an average of 32 points per matchup. They will head out on the road to face off against the Houston Texans at 1 p.m. ET next Sunday at NRG Stadium. Houston will be strutting in after a win while the Jets will be stumbling in from a defeat.
It was all tied up 7-7 at halftime, but New York was not quite the Miami Dolphins’ equal in the second half when they met on Sunday. New York came up short against Miami, falling 24-17. New York’s loss came about despite a quality game from WR Elijah Moore, who caught eight passes for one TD and 141 yards. That receiving effort made it the first game that Moore has posted more than 100 yards receiving.
Meanwhile, after constant struggles on the road, Houston has finally found some success away from home. They beat the Tennessee Titans 22-13 on Sunday. Houston QB Tyrod Taylor earned his paycheck as he accumulated 107 passing yards in addition to punching in two rushing touchdowns.
The Texans’ defense was a force to be reckoned with, as it collected four interceptions and one fumble. DB Desmond King picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown.
The Jets and Houston now sit at an identical 2-8. Houston is 0-1 after wins this season, and New York is 2-5 after losses.
