The Winthrop Eagles are staying on the road this past Saturday to face off against the Washington Huskies at 10 p.m. ET Nov. 27 at Alaska Airlines Arena. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they’ll have plenty of motivation to get the ‘W.’
It looks like the Eagles got the smaller half of the wishbone at Thanksgiving dinner. They were within striking distance but couldn’t close the gap last week as they fell 92-86 to the Washington State Cougars. Winthrop got double-digit scores from four players: guard Patrick Good (33), guard Russell Jones Jr. (19), forward D.J. Burns Jr. (14), and guard Micheal Anumba (11). Jones Jr. hadn’t helped his team much against the Vanderbilt Commodores two weeks ago, so this was a nice turnaround for him.
As for Washington, it looks like they got the smaller half of the wishbone at Thanksgiving dinner. This past Wednesday, they lost to the Nevada Wolf Pack by a decisive 81-62 margin. The losing side was boosted by guard Terrell Brown Jr., who had 19 points along with five rebounds.
The Eagles are expected to lose this next one by 5.5. Those who got lucky with them against the spread last Monday might want to hold off on placing bets this time since the squad has yet to string together back-to-back wins against the spread.
Winthrop is now 2-3 while Washington sits at 4-3. Winthrop is 0-2 after losses this season, the Huskies 2-0.
