The Mets are getting the prized pitcher of the offseason

The Mets and owner Steve Cohen got their man. Max Scherzer and the New York Mets are reportedly in agreement on a deal expected to be in the three-year, $130 million deal range, though the exact number could change.
It is reported there is an opt out clause after the second season.
The average annual value of the reported deal would be around $43 million a year. The current record for AAV is held by New York Yankees pitcher Gerrit Cole at $36 million.
This is a massive deal for the 37-year-old star.
Scherzer has played for the Arizona Diamondbacks, Detroit Tigers, Washington Nationals and most recently the Los Angeles Dodgers. He’s an eight-time All-Star, a World Series champion, a three-time Cy Young Award winner and made the All-MLB First Team twice, including 2021.
