The Spartans and the Minnesota Golden Gophers will face off in a Big Ten battle at 9 p.m. ET on Wednesday at Williams Arena. Both teams seek to continue their momentum from their previous wins.
Michigan State didn’t have too much trouble with the Toledo Rockets at home on Saturday as they won 81-68. Michigan State got double-digit scores from five players: guard Max Christie (14), forward Gabe Brown (12), guard Tyson Walker (11), forward Marcus Bingham Jr. (10), and guard A.J. Hoggard (10).
Meanwhile, Minnesota didn’t have too much breathing room in their contest with the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Sunday, but they still walked away with an 81-76 victory. It was another big night for the Golden Gophers’ guard Payton Willis, who had 24 points and seven assists.
The Spartans are the favorite in this one, with an expected 7-point margin of victory. Those burned by picking them against the spread on Saturday might want to keep in mind that the team has not yet dropped back-to-back games against the spread this season.
Michigan State found themselves the reluctant recipients of an unfortunate 81-56 punch to the gut against Minnesota when the two teams previously met in December of last year. Can Michigan State avenge their loss, or is history doomed to repeat itself? We’ll soon find out.
