Who’s Playing

New Orleans @ San Antonio

Current Records: New Orleans 8-20; San Antonio 9-16

What to Know

The San Antonio Spurs are getting right back to it as they host the New Orleans Pelicans at 7 p.m. ET Dec. 12 at AT&T Center. New Orleans will be strutting in after a win while the Spurs will be stumbling in from a loss.

This past Saturday, San Antonio lost to the Denver Nuggets at home by a decisive 127-112 margin. San Antonio was down 103-74 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from. Small forward Lonnie Walker IV (16 points), shooting guard Devin Vassell (15 points), small forward Keldon Johnson (14 points), and shooting guard Bryn Forbes (14 points) were the top scorers for San Antonio.

Meanwhile, New Orleans strolled past the Detroit Pistons with points to spare this past Friday, taking the contest 109-93. The Pelicans’ small forward Brandon Ingram did his thing and had 26 points and five assists.

Barring any buzzer beaters, the Spurs are expected to win a tight contest Sunday. They have been consistent moneymakers against the spread when favored (4-2), so they might be worth a quick bet.

San Antonio is now 9-16 while New Orleans sits at 8-20. A couple numbers to keep in mind before tip-off: San Antonio enters the matchup with only 16.8 fouls per game on average, which is the best in the league. On the other end of the spectrum, New Orleans is fifth worst in the league in fouls per game, with 20.1 on average. Keep an eye on whether or not foul trouble puts New Orleans in a difficult position.
