The Alcorn State Braves’ road trip will continue as they head to Lloyd Noble Center at 8 p.m. ET on Wednesday to face off against the Oklahoma Sooners. Oklahoma will be strutting in after a victory while the Braves will be stumbling in from a defeat.
A win for Alcorn State just wasn’t in the stars on Monday as the team never even grasped a temporary lead. They took a serious blow against the Baylor Bears, falling 94-57. Guard Keondre Montgomery had a pretty forgettable game, playing for 27 minutes but putting up just seven points on 2-for-10 shooting.
Meanwhile, Oklahoma made easy work of the Texas-Arlington Mavericks on Sunday and carried off a 70-50 win. Guard Umoja Gibson (14 points), forward Tanner Groves (13 points), and forward Jalen Hill (12 points) were the top scorers for Oklahoma.
Alcorn State have to know they’ll be fighting an uphill battle given the 26.50 point spread they are up against. However, those who like betting on the underdog should be happy to hear that they are 8-3 against the spread when expected to lose.
