Who’s Playing
UCF @ SMU
Current Records: UCF 9-2; SMU 10-3
What to Know
The SMU Mustangs will be returning home after a two-game road trip. The Mustangs and the UCF Knights will face off in an American Athletic battle at 2 p.m. ET on Sunday at Moody Coliseum. SMU is out to keep their eight-game home win streak alive.
Even if it wasn’t a dominant performance, SMU beat the Tulsa Golden Hurricane 74-69 on Wednesday. It was another big night for SMU’s guard Kendric Davis, who had 26 points.
Meanwhile, UCF wrapped up 2021 with an 85-71 victory over the Michigan Wolverines. UCF can attribute much of their success to guard Brandon Mahan, who shot 5-for-7 from downtown and finished with 26 points and seven boards, and guard Darin Green Jr., who shot 7-for-9 from beyond the arc and finished with 27 points. Green Jr.’s performance made up for a slower contest against the North Alabama Lions last Wednesday. Green Jr.’s points were the most he has had all year.
Their wins bumped the Mustangs to 10-3 and the Knights to 9-2. We’ll see which team can carry over their success and which team inevitably falls when SMU and UCF clash.
