Super Bowl 2023 odds: Chiefs favored to win it all next season; Rams own third-best odds to repeat

Super Bowl 2023 odds: Chiefs favored to win it all next season; Rams own third-best odds to repeat

The Los Angeles Rams are Super Bowl LVI champions. Sean McVay’s team was able to climb the NFL‘s mountaintop by defeating the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20 at SoFi Stadium for the franchise’s second Super Bowl title in its history and the first in Los Angeles. With this game — and season — now officially in the books, we’re going to take a brief look at the upcoming 2022 season and see who owns the best odds of hoisting the Lombardi Trophy at this time next year.

At Caesars Sportsbook, the reigning champs currently own the third-best odds to win Super Bowl LVIII at +1000. For the Rams, they’ll be looking to become the first team since the 2003, 2004 New England Patriots to repeat as Super Bowl champions, so they’ll be facing a pretty tough task. While they may be looking up at two other teams in these Super Bowl odds, Los Angeles does have the highest odds among teams in the NFC.

Here’s a full rundown of Caesars’ current odds (as of Feb. 13) for each team’s odds of winning the Super Bowl next season.

As has been the case for the past few seasons, the Kansas City Chiefs (+650) find themselves as the favorite to win the Super Bowl. With Patrick Mahomes healthy and arguably just entering his prime at 26-year-old, and several key pieces under contract, the Chiefs have the foundation of a Super Bowl title contender already.

The same can be said for the Buffalo Bills (+700), who are just above the Rams for the second-best odds to win it all next season. Similar to K.C., the Bills have an MVP-caliber quarterback in Josh Allen, which gives them a tremendous leg up over a large chunk of the league. They also had the top-ranked defense in DVOA in 2021 and were without star cornerback Tre’Davious White for a large chunk of that campaign, including the playoffs. After they get him back in the fold and retooling at key areas on the depth chart, the Bills should be back in the thick of the Super Bowl conversation.

Meanwhile, the Cincinnati Bengals, the defending AFC champions, are slotted right behind the Rams and inside the top five in the Super Bowl odds for the 2022 season. The fact that Joe Burrow was able to get the Bengals knocking on the door of a championship in just his second season is a testament to how special of a talent he is and it seems unlikely Cincinnati will be going away anytime soon. The last team to lose in the Super Bowl and then come back to win it all the following year was the 2018 New England Patriots.

As for some teams that are viewed a little more as long shots, it’s worth keeping an eye on teams like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+1800), Denver Broncos (+2200) and, Indianapolis Colts (+2500). Those three teams could be making swings at landing one of the elite quarterbacks in the NFL that could shake loose this offseason, including Russell Wilson, Aaron Rodgers, and Deshaun Watson. As we’ve seen over the past two seasons with Tom Brady and now Matthew Stafford, a quarterback can make all the difference and do so right out of the gate in Year 1.
