How to watch Rockets vs. Spurs basketball game

Through 1 Quarter

We’ve seen some fireworks one quarter in as the San Antonio Spurs and the Houston Rockets have combined for 73 points. San Antonio is way out in front with a 42-31 lead over Houston. Point guard Dejounte Murray has led the way so far for the Spurs, as he has 11 points and four assists along with four boards.

Both San Antonio and Houston were victorious their last time out, but right now only San Antonio is in position to continue that streak. It’s looking like San Antonio will be able to keep the momentum, but the Rockets still have three quarters to right the ship.

What to Know

After three games on the road, the Houston Rockets are heading back home. Houston and the San Antonio Spurs will face off in a Southwest Division battle at 8 p.m. ET Monday at Toyota Center. Allowing an average of 117.63 points per game, the Rockets have been asleep on the defensive side of the ball and will need to wake up before the contest.

It was all tied up 60-60 at the half for Houston and the Portland Trail Blazers this past Saturday, but Houston stepped up in the second half for a 115-98 victory. Center Alperen Sengun was the offensive standout of the matchup for Houston, picking up 27 points along with seven rebounds. Sengun had some trouble finding his footing against Portland this past Friday, so this was a step in the right direction. Sengun’s points were the most he has had all season.

Meanwhile, San Antonio narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the New Orleans Pelicans 107-103. The top scorer for the Spurs was small forward Keldon Johnson (21 points).

The Rockets are expected to lose this next one by 9.5. They are currently two-for-two against the spread in their most recent games, however, a trend bettors might want to take into account.

Houston found themselves the reluctant recipients of an unfortunate 131-106 punch to the gut against San Antonio in the teams’ previous meeting in February. Maybe Houston will have more luck at home instead of on the road? Watch the game and check back on CBS Sports for all the details.
