Colorado Rockies second baseman Ryan McMahon didn’t exactly have a breakout season last year, but he did return to his 2019 form and gave his team some much-needed consistency in the middle of the lineup. His 23 home runs, 86 RBI and batting splits of .254/.331/.449 were all remarkably close to his numbers from three years ago, but he hit 10 more doubles to top things off. A reliable set of 2022 Fantasy baseball rankings will help you find hidden gems that can go unnoticed in the middle of batting orders around the league.
The Rockies think that McMahon turned a corner last season and signed him to a six-year $70 million dollar contract in the offseason. McMahon was as under the radar as it got coming off of a disappointing abbreviated season in 2020, now the question becomes which 2022 Fantasy baseball sleepers you can find to help you win your league this season. Before you begin your 2022 Fantasy baseball draft prep, be sure to see the 2022 Fantasy baseball rankings and cheat sheets from the proven computer model at SportsLine.
Last season, SportsLine’s Projection Model identified several top Fantasy baseball sleepers, breakouts and busts, including Guardians designated hitter Franmil Reyes.
Reyes had a 2021 Fantasy baseball ADP outside the top 200 but the model predicted that he’d outperform that draft position. The result: Reyes hit 30 home runs and drove in 85 in 115 games for Cleveland and slashed .254/.324/.522 for an OPS+ of 127. Anybody who followed its advice and picked up Reyes late in their Fantasy baseball drafts received a huge power boost in their Fantasy baseball lineups.
The SportsLine model is engineered by the same people who powered projections for all three major Fantasy sites. And that same group is sharing its 2022 Fantasy baseball rankings and cheat sheets over at SportsLine, helping you find Fantasy baseball sleepers, breakouts and busts long before your competition. Their cheat sheets, available for leagues on many major sites, are updated multiple times every day.

Top 2022 Fantasy baseball sleepers
One of the 2022 Fantasy baseball sleepers the model is projecting: Rockies catcher Elias Diaz. Colorado signed Diaz to a three-year, $14.5 million contract extension last November, showing how the organization feels about the 31-year-old backstop. Diaz was the team’s primary catcher last season, hitting .246 with 18 home runs and 44 RBI in 106 games. He missed the beginning of spring workouts due to visa issues, but he will be ready to go for Opening Day.
Diaz appears to be locked in as the No. 1 catcher for the Rockies this season. He plays in most hitter-friendly conditions in the MLB, which certainly makes him an attractive Fantasy baseball option. SportsLine’s model has Diaz rated higher than catchers Mike Zunino, Tyler Stephenson and Gary Sanchez, who are all being drafted ahead of Diaz, on average.
Another one of the 2022 Fantasy baseball sleepers the model is all over: Phillies second baseman Jean Segura.
Segura’s 2022 Fantasy baseball ADP has taken a bit of a jump over where expectations fell for him in 2021 preseason Fantasy rankings. However, he is still being drafted far later than other second basemen despite finishing as one of the position’s most consistent hitters last year. His numbers were quite competitive with those he put up as an All-Star with Seattle in 2018, and he had batting splits of .290/.348/.436 with 14 home runs and 58 RBI.
After this season, Philadelphia must decide if they want to bring him back on a club option worth $17 million, which is another $2.15 million than it has been paying him for the last three seasons. The model thinks that he can earn it, and provide better Fantasy value than others currently going before him like Brandon Lowe, Marcus Semien or Jake Cronenworth.
How to find proven 2022 Fantasy baseball rankings
SportsLine is also high on a surprising starting pitcher who lands in the top five of its positional rankings. This player is barely going off the board in the top 100 picks, but is projected to outperform starters such as Julio Urias, Max Scherzer and Lucas Giolito. This pick could be the difference in winning your league or going home with nothing. You can only see who it is here.
