Tiger Woods has already completed one stunning comeback at the Masters when he won the tournament in 2019. He has a chance to top that accomplishment at the 2022 Masters, telling the media on Tuesday he plans to play. Woods has won the Masters five times and is a 15-time major champion. He is a 50-1 Masters long shot in the latest 2022 Masters odds at Caesars Sportsbook.
Woods will compete with the likes of Jon Rahm (10-1), Justin Thomas (14-1) and Scottie Scheffler (16-1), who are currently among the 2022 Masters favorites. Cameron Smith and Dustin Johnson, both 16-1, are both expected to contend for the green jacket as well in the 2022 Masters field. Before locking in your 2022 Masters picks or locking in any PGS DFS picks on sites like DraftKings and FanDuel, be sure to see the golf predictions and projected leaderboard from the proven computer model at SportsLine.
SportsLine’s proprietary model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been red-hot since the PGA Tour resumed in June 2020. In fact, it’s up over $8,000 on its best bets since that point, nailing tournament after tournament.
At the 2021 Open Championship, McClure’s best bets included Collin Morikawa winning outright even though he was listed as a massive 40-1 long shot. In addition, McClure’s model was all over Jon Rahm’s (10-1) first career major championship victory at the 2021 U.S. Open. Rahm was two strokes off the lead heading into the weekend, but the model still projected him as the winner.
This same model has also nailed a whopping seven majors entering the weekend. Anyone who has followed it has seen massive returns.
Now that the Masters 2022 field is set, SportsLine simulated the event 10,000 times, and the results were surprising. Head to SportsLine now to see the projected 2022 Masters leaderboard.
Model’s top 2022 Masters predictions
One huge shocker the model is calling for at the Masters 2022: McIlroy, a 20-time PGA Tour champion and one of the top favorites, stumbles at Augusta and finishes outside the top 10. The Masters is the only missing piece from completing his career grand slam for McIlroy, whose best finish at Augusta National was fourth place in 2015. However, the Irishman has struggled in recent visits to Augusta, missing the cut last year and finishing outside the top 20 in 2019.
McIlroy’s recent tour events have him trending in the wrong direction approaching the Masters. He had a top 10 finish in February’s Genesis Invitational, but his finish has gotten worse in his three ensuing events. McIlroy’s putting is his biggest concern since he ranks outside the top 150 in three-putt avoidance (3.09 percent), while putting woes have often derailed him at previous Masters.
The model has also examined Tiger Woods’ chances of playing in the 2022 Masters. On Tuesday, Woods said, “As of right now, I feel like I am going to play.” He played practice rounds on Sunday and Monday leading up to the first 2022 Masters tee times on Thursday.
The 46-year-old has not competed in a PGA Tour event since the 2020 Masters. Woods snapped an 11-year personal major championship drought when he won at Augusta National in 2019. He has also recorded wins at the Masters in 1997, 2001, 2002 and 2005. Woods suffered multiple fractures in his right leg when he was involved in a car wreck in February of 2021, but he has been able to practice this week, drawing praise from fellow golfers including Fred Couples and Justin Thomas. The model just locked in its Tiger Woods Masters picks here.
How to make 2022 Masters picks
The model is also targeting four other golfers with odds of 20-1 or longer who will make surprising runs. Anyone who backs these long shots could hit it big. You can only see them here.
