The 2024-25 English Premier League (EPL) season gets underway this week with Manchester United vs. Fulham kicking off the action this Friday August 16. The Red Devils’ bitter rivals Manchester City are defending champions while Arsenal will be aiming to steal the crown from Pep Guardiola’s men. It is shaping up to be an unmissable campaign and Fubo is your exclusive home for EPL action in Canada.

EPL storylines for 2024-25

  • Can Arsenal beat City to the title? Pep Guardiola’s men are seeking their fifth consecutive league triumph but do not look as strong as they have done in previous seasons. The Gunners have been moving closer these past two campaigns and will hope to build on two straight second placed finishes by going one better.
  • Will Liverpool be competitive? How Arne Slot fares as he attempts to follow in Jurgen Klopp’s footsteps at Anfield will be fascinating. The Reds were successfully restored to their former status by the German and now the Dutchman will get to try to build on those solid foundations left by Klopp. So far, Liverpool have not made a single major change to their squad so expect a solid start.
  • Chelsea’s malaise: With Enzo Maresca in for Mauricio Pochettino, can the Blues get back into the reckoning for UEFA Champions League qualification? Their spending is slowing down, so expect drama at Stamford Bridge if results do not follow.
  • The Manchester United rebuild: INEOS now have a significant say on what happens at Old Trafford and Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s group are giving Erik ten Hag time as manager. A few changes this summer including the signings of Leny Yoro, Joshua Zirkzee and Matthijs de Ligt means that expectations will be raised or Ten Hag could be out — the pressure is on.
  • New faces: Southampton and Leicester City are returning after relatively short periods away but Ipswich Town are back after 22 years away from the top tier. Expect the Tractor Boys to give it their best and to try to be as competitive as possible despite the huge leap in quality from the EFL Championship to the EPL.
  • Unai Emery’s Villa revolution: The Birmingham-based outfit stunned the EPL last year by breaking into the top four and finishing in a UCL position. Equaling that or bettering it will be hard for the Spaniard and his players, but do not rule the Villans out from having a go.
