The No. 7 Tennessee Volunteers face off against the Kent State Golden Flashes on Saturday at Neyland Stadium. The Volunteers will be strutting in after a victory while the Golden Flashes will be stumbling in from a loss.

Tennessee thrashed NC State last week, outscoring the Wolfpack in every quarter for a 51-10 win. A big part of the victory was the Volunteers’ ability to finish drives: the Vols scored a touchdown on five of their six trips to the red zone.

Tennessee’s success was spearheaded by the efforts of Dylan Sampson, who rushed for 132 yards and two touchdowns. Nico Iamaleava threw for 211 yards and two touchdowns.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for Tennessee, adding 15 points to the final score. All those points came courtesy of Max Gilbert: he added nine points with three field goals, and another six kicking extra points. His longest was a 45-yard strike in the second quarter.

Meanwhile, Kent State’s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after its 11th straight defeat dating back to last season. The Golden Flashes took a 23-17 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Francis.

Luke Floriea put forth a good effort for the losing side as he picked up 92 receiving yards and a touchdown.
