Liverpool hope to extend their strong start to life under Arne Slot on Saturday, when they face Crystal Palace with the hopes of staying atop the Premier League.

The Reds enter the weekend a point ahead of reigning champions Manchester City and have looked steady to start the season, making them the favorites in their weekend clash. The same cannot be said for Crystal Palace, who are winless in their first six games and sit in 18th place, doing away with the optimism that came when Oliver Glasner was hired as the manager last March.

Storylines

Minus that one loss to Nottingham Forest last month, things have been so far, so good at the start of Slot’s tenure as the Liverpool manager. They have outscored their opponents 12 to two in league pay and coupled with two wins out of two in the Champions League, this year of transition instead feels more like a period of cruise control. That’s true despite the fact that Slot’s team has a different look and feel than that of his predecessor Jurgen Klopp, but the more restrained approach has been equally as effective.

It helps that Slot can rely on a handful of Liverpool’s longtime performers. Luis Diaz already has five Premier League goals, while Mohamed Salah has four of his own and four assists. The pair will be counted on to lead the way on Saturday, and should have little trouble adding to their accounts.

Prediction

There’s little to suggest that Liverpool will not leave London with all three points, so count on the Reds to maintain their lead atop the table heading into the international break. Pick: Crystal Palace 0, Liverpool 3
