North Carolina football roster news
Belichick made his first major appearance in front of North Carolina fans at a basketball game on Saturday and he’s already been able to attract the attention of a few players in the college football transfer portal and shore up a major commitment. Four-star quarterback Bryce Baker committed to the Tar Heels when Brown was still the head coach and he solidified his status as a UNC signee on Saturday just before Belichick was introduced at the Dean Dome.
Meanwhile, offensive linemen Austin Blaske and Aidan Banfield both withdrew from the transfer portal this week, as did linebacker Amare Campbell. The latter was third on the team in tackles while tying for first in tackles for loss (11) and sacks (6.5) in 2024, and the two offensive linemen combined to make 13 starts this season.
Belichick also hosted Delaware defensive lineman Melkart Abou-Jaoude this weekend for an official visit. Abou-Jaoude had eight sacks for the Fightin’ Blue Hens and has one season of remaining eligibility. The New Jersey product has also heard from Rutgers during this transfer window.
