He was one of the league’s best backup running backs and averaged 727 scrimmage yards and 4.5 touchdowns over the last two seasons. Seeking additional touches, Williams left one NFC North team for another this offseason, as he departed Green Bay to join Detroit.
Week 1 was a glimpse of how the Lions will use Williams, as he rushed for 54 yards and a score while catching eight passes for 56 yards. The eight catches tied a career-high and marked just the third time in Williams’ career that he had over 50 rushing and 50 receiving yards. He knows the Packers’ defensive tendencies as well as anyone, so he should be in line for a huge night against his former team.
