Through 3 Quarters
The Hawaii Rainbow Warriors can’t call it a day yet, but they are winning as expected. They have emerged as the frontrunner after three quarters and are ahead of the New Mexico State Aggies 24-13. A win for the Rainbow Warriors would counteract both their recent defeat and New Mexico State’s recent victory.
Who’s Playing
Hawaii @ New Mexico State
Current Records: Hawaii 1-3; New Mexico State 1-3
What to Know
Considering their sizeable disadvantage in the spread, the New Mexico State Aggies can expect to have a real challenge on their hands Saturday. Their homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors at 8 p.m. ET Sept. 25 at Aggie Memorial Stadium. The Aggies will be strutting in after a win while Hawaii will be stumbling in from a loss.
New Mexico State was able to grind out a solid victory over the South Carolina State Bulldogs last week, winning 43-35. The team ran away with 36 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those in the second to pick up the victory.
Meanwhile, the Rainbow Warriors didn’t finish too far behind, but the squad still lost 17-13 to the San Jose State Spartans last week.
New Mexico State’s victory brought them up to 1-3 while Hawaii’s defeat pulled them down to an identical 1-3. A pair of defensive numbers to keep in mind before kickoff: New Mexico State is 238th worst in the nation in touchdowns allowed, with 15 on the season. Hawaii has experienced some struggles of their own as they are stumbling into the contest with the 244th most touchdowns allowed in the nation, having given up 17 on the season. It’s possible one of these Achilles’ heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
