The New York Giants continue to find ways to lose games, and are off to another 0-3 start as a result. New York has lost its first three games of the season for the third time in the past five years — the second consecutive year under Joe Judge.

Sunday’s 17-14 defeat to the Atlanta Falcons was just another sign of the Giants’ futility. New York scored just 14 points against an Atlanta team that allowed 80 points over its first two games, losing on a field goal as time expired with no time left for the second consecutive week (the Giants are the only team over the past 15 years to lose on consecutive walk-off field goals with no time left).

The 0-3 start isn’t ideal for a team with NFC East championship expectations. New York will be two games out of the division lead after three weeks following Monday’s Eagles-Cowboys game.

“I don’t think we’re a bad team, to be honest,” running back and team captain Saquon Barkley said after the loss. “I know you guys are going to say what you’re going to say and write what you want to write, but that’s the NFL. There are no bad teams in the NFL.”

The Giants have a tough road ahead of them after a loss to the previously winless Falcons. New York’s next six opponents have a combined record of 13-4, with the only team having a losing record being the Kansas City Chiefs.

“I’m sick of losing. Everyone is sick of losing,” Barkley said. “No one wants to lose, but I wouldn’t consider us a bad team. We just have to figure it out, and that’s the difference.”

The Giants are 18-49 since the start of the 2017 season, tied with the New York Jets for the worst record in the NFL. Both New York teams have played a combined 38 games since the start of last season — and have scored fewer than 20 points in 24 of those games.

The message is clear in the Giants’ locker room. Something has to change in order for New York to turn the season around.

“We have to start believing in each other and believing in the scheme and when that happens, we will have something special,” Barkley said. “But until then, we’re going to keep having losses at the end of the game with field goals, because we’re this close and we keep saying it. ‘We’re this close.’ But somebody has to do something about it and that has to be myself and the leaders of this team and just the guys on this team. We have to step up and make plays.”http://www.cbssports.com/”
