You will notice trend in this way-too-early top 25 ahead of the 2024 season: The Super Two dominate.

In this new age where the Big Ten and SEC have the most power, brands and relevant teams, it only figures that they combine to have 10 of the top 11 teams in this early preseason set of college football rankings. This is a foreshadowing as much as a prediction as the Super Two threaten to take over the game.

The game’s best rivalries and teams will mostly be contained in those two conferences. So, get used to the dominance. You might have noticed the Big Ten and SEC combined have won 15 out of the last 18 national titles with No. 1 Michigan taking down No. 2 Washington on Monday night in the 2024 College Football Playoff National Championship. Now that a third of what used to be the Pac-12 is in the Big Ten, it’s going to be a different world.

No surprise, then, that Georgia is No. 1 after narrowly missing out on a shot at a third straight national championship.

As always, it’s never too early to rank teams because college football never ends. The 2024 season begins now. (Actually, it began last month with the early signing period and opening of the transfer portal.)
