Replacing quarterback J.J. McCarthy is the top job for Moore and his staff, and the competition will likely come down to three players. Alex Orji is a high-end athlete who Michigan used as a runner in high-pressure spots in 2023. He averaged 5.7 yards per carry, and there’s no doubt that he has the athleticism to cause problems for opposing defenses.

When Moore filled in for a suspended Harbaugh late in 2023, Michigan largely leaned on its ground game.
