Colorado football 2024 practice news: Camp storylines, schedule, Deion Sanders depth chart from Buffs insiders

Colorado football 2024 practice news: Camp storylines, schedule, Deion Sanders depth chart from Buffs insiders

Year two of the Deion Sanders era at the University of Colorado gets underway on Thursday, August 29, when the Buffaloes host FCS powerhouse North Dakota State at Folsom Field. The Buffs underwent another Colorado football roster during the offseason, adding 55 new scholarship players and watching over 40 players from the 2023 roster transfer to other schools. The Colorado football depth chart will once again feature a pair of dark-horse Heisman Trophy candidates, quarterback Shedeur Sanders and two-way star Travis Hunter. Safety Shilo Sanders continues to be limited to non-contact drills in practice as he recovers from offseason surgery. His status for the Buffs’ season-opener is up in the air.

The 2024 Colorado football depth chart is still in the process of being finalized as multiple position battles continue to sort themselves out in Colorado football fall camp. If you want to see the latest Colorado football camp news, be sure to see what the proven team of insiders are saying at BuffStampede, the 247Sports affiliate that covers Colorado.

Top Colorado Buffaloes practice storylines

The Colorado offensive line took a beating on the field and in the media in 2023. Quarterback Shedeur Sanders was the most-sacked FBS quarterback and the Buffs ranked 130th averaging just 68.9 rushing yards per game. All five starters have since transferred or graduated, opening the door for an all new starting offensive line in 2024.

The Colorado football offensive line will feature one of the top recruits in program history in Jordan Seaton. The former five-star recruit is slated to start at left tackle for the Buffaloes as a true freshman. Seaton will be joined by a slew of transfers including Tyler Johnson (Houston) and Kahlil Benson (Indiana). Get more updates on how the Colorado offensive line depth chart is shaping up at BuffStampede

Another priority for the Buffs this offseason was improving the team’s rushing attack. Colorado ranked last in the FBS in rushing yards per game (68.9) and yards per carry (2.3). The Buffs’ top-four rushers from 2023 — Dylan Edwards, Anthony Hankerson, Sy’veon Wilkerson, and Alton McCaskill — have all left the program, creating an open competition for the top running back spot on the team’s depth chart. Former walk-on Charlie Offerdahl has been joined by transfers Dallan Hayden (Ohio State) and Isaiah Augustave (Arkansas), and true freshman signees Micah Welch and Brandon Hood in the competition.

“The early indications during preseason camp are that Colorado’s running back competition will continue right up until game week, when the Buffaloes begin preparation for North Dakota State. Hayden is firmly in the mix for RB1 duties, with Charlie Offerdahl currently holding that spot, and Arkansas transfer Isaiah Augustave, and freshmen Micah Welch and Brandon Hood also chasing,” Munsterteiger told BuffStampede. Get the latest updates on the Colorado running back competition at BuffStampede.
