Anderson has two at bats against McCullers, one of which was a triple. He finished the final month of the regular season on a high note, with his highest batting average of the year (.359) and three home runs in 15 games.
To the extent that hitters have had success against McCullers Jr. this season, those that have fared best have been in the leadoff spot. McCullers Jr. has given up more doubles (six) to leadoff hitters than any other spot in opposing lineups, and Anderson was third on the White Sox in the regular season with 29 two-baggers. Anderson also has batting splits of .340/.369/.513 in day games, so today’s afternoon start should suit him well.
