Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury stepped on the scales on Friday night in Las Vegas, weighing in ahead of Saturday night’s clash for Fury’s WBC heavyweight championship. Both men tilted the scales at the highest weights of their careers before vowing to win their third meeting.
Fury weighed in at 277 pounds, one pound higher than his previous career-high against Sefer Seferi in June 2018. Fury weighed 273 ahead of the February 2020 rematch with Wilder and 256 before their first fight in December 2018.
Wilder’s official weight was 238 pounds. His previous career-high weight was 231 for the second meeting with Fury. In their first clash, Wilder weighed 212. Wilder claimed that the weight was a result of putting on muscle so he could more effectively deal with Fury trying to lean his weight on him as he had in the previous fights.
The teams exchanged words backstage before heading to the scales. The long-standing animosity between both groups led to there being no final face-off between the fighters after they stepped off the scales.
The trilogy fight goes down Saturday night on pay-per-view from Las Vegas’ T-Mobile arena.
