Mexico vs. Honduras odds, picks, how to watch, live stream: Oct. 10 CONCACAF World Cup qualifier predictions

Mexico vs. Honduras odds, picks, how to watch, live stream: Oct. 10 CONCACAF World Cup qualifier predictions

After a disappointing draw at home against Canada, Mexico currently sits second in the 2022 Concacaf World Cup qualifying table, but it will have another chance to take a step towards qualifying for the 2022 FIFA World Cup on Sunday when it hosts Honduras. El Tri trounced Honduras 3-0 in the Gold Cup quarter-finals in July and will look to build off that victory to stay in the top three and earn a trip to Qatar next summer. However, Honduras does have one win in Mexico during a World Cup qualifier in 2013 so the chance and an anxious Mexican crowd after a run of poor form won’t want to see a repeat. You can catch all the action live on Paramount+.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET at the vaunted Estadio Azteca in Mexico City. Mexico is the -390 favorite (risk $390 to win $100) on the 90-minute money line in its latest Mexico vs. Honduras odds, while Honduras is the +900 underdog. A draw is priced at +450 and the over-under for total goals scored is 2.5. Sunday’s match will be streamed live on Paramount+ with their must-have Premium plan.

CONCACAF World Cup qualifying picks for Honduras vs. Mexico

Before you tune in to Sunday’s World Cup qualifiers, you need to see the CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers picks from CBS Sports lead soccer writer Roger Gonzalez. Gonzalez is an award-winning writer that has covered pro soccer from Europe to South America. Gonzalez started out his pro soccer writing career while in college at Virginia Tech, writing for Goal.com. He’s also covered the Copa America, Champions League, Copa Libertadores, and much more.

For Mexico vs. Honduras, Gonzalez is picking Mexico to win to win the first half at -130 odds. So far in 2022 Concacaf World Cup qualifying, Mexico needed a late goal to beat Jamaica, had to grind out a 1-0 win over Costa Rica and then took draws against Panama and Canada.

However, El Tri started fast against Canada on Thursday, with Hirving Lozano assisting a Jorge Eduardo Sanchez goal in the 21st minute while Mexico dominated the run of play. Canada would go on to level just before the half, but with the pressure ratcheted up after Thursday’s draw, this should be a sharper Mexican side against a weaker opponent.

Honduras currently sits seventh out of eight teams in the table and has managed just one goal in its last three games. Tata Martino and Mexico will know that another draw or worse will inch them into a precarious position when it comes to qualifying, which is ultimately the only thing that matters at this stage. That’s a big reason why Gonzalez likes El Tri to come out strong and win the first half on Sunday.
