Mexico’s 3-0 win over Honduras has put them back on top of the Concacaf World Cup qualification table after the USMNT went down 1-0 to Panama and Canada were held by Jamaica. Tata Martino’s men are now the only unbeaten team along with the Canadians and they have a three-point lead on the field heading into this one. Storylines
El Salvador: One win and two draws from five matches is not bad going, especially considering that the win was over Panama who are currently third in the table ahead of teams like Canada and Costa Rica. However, Mexico are arguably the strongest team in the region and will need to be even better than they were in their goalless draw with the USMNT to get anything here.
Mexico:
After draws against Panama and Canada, Mexico got back on track with a win over Honduras last time out and El Salvador is a chance to get more points on the board before the looming November doubleheader against the USMNT and the Canadians. El Tri have not been as tight at the back as they might have liked with only two clean sheets so far and they will be keen to change that here.
Prediction
Mexico to win in reasonably comfortable fashion. It might take a while for the breakthrough to come but it should be straightforward once it does. Pick: El Salvador 0-2 Mexico.
