Barcelona vs. Getafe odds, pick, prediction: La Liga live stream TV, how and where to watch, time

Barcelona will try to extend their 100% winning start to the new La Liga season against Getafe on Wednesday. The visitors are in the relegation zone at present while the Catalan giants are four points clear at the summit. Hansi Flick saw his side thump Villarreal 5-1 over the weekend while Jose Bordalas’ men drew with Leganes thanks to a Borja Mayoral penalty.

The Blaugrana got over their UEFA Champions League disappointment against Monaco with that win over Villarreal thanks to two goals apiece from Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha while Pablo Torre also scored. However, it came at the cost of a serious injury to goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen which has taken the shine off of the continued unbeaten run in La Liga. Barca are back in Catalonia after three consecutive away games and they will be keen to protect their four-point lead over bitter rivals Real Madrid at the summit.

With just two points dropped from 10 home games, a six-game winning run against Getafe at home will keep the hosts confident ahead of this one. Only four teams can say that they have conceded fewer goals than the Azulones this season but the issue is three goals scored across six games which has contributed towards an 11-game winless run. A point from this game would be Getafe’s first away at Barca since early 2018.

Story so far

Flick’s Barca have won all of their opening six games so far this La Liga season. Things have stepped up a notch, though, with a 7-1 thrashing of Real Valladolid, a 4-1 thumping of Girona and last weekend’s 5-1 win away at Villarreal. Getafe are one of just two sides in the Spanish topflight without a win yet with four draws and two losses from six as they seek to equal or better last year’s 12th-placed finish.

Team news

Barca: Ter Stegen ruptured the patella tendon in his right knee and has undergone surgery which will keep him out for a long time. Inaki Pena replaced the German in Villarreal and the 25-year-should make his first start of this season. Ter Stegen joins Ronald Araujo, Andreas Christensen, Marc Bernal, Gavi, Frenkie de Jong, Dani Olmo and Fermin Lopez on the treatment table. Flick could reinstate Pau Cubarsi, Alejandro Balde and Marc Casado after rotating his players while Ferran Torres is back from suspension. Lewandowski equaled Jan Urban for the most goals (48) scored by a Polish player in La Liga which could be broken here.

Possible Barca XI: Pena; Kounde, Cubarsi, Martinez, Balde; Casado, Pedri; Yamal, Raphinha, Torres; Lewandowski.

Getafe: Aberdin has missed the last three matches due to injury and could miss out again while Alvaro Rodriguez has an ankle issue so is a doubt as he awaits his Getafe debut. Alex Sola and Carles Perez could both start while Mayoral could get his first start after a lengthy spell out through injury.

Possible Getafe XI: Soria; Iglesias, Djene, Berrocal, Alderete, Rico; Perez, Uche, Milla, Sola; Mayoral.

Prediction

Although Getafe can make life tough for teams, expect Barca to see to them fairly easily although possibly not in as prolific fashion as some of their recent outings. Pick: Barca 3, Getafe 0.
