Rhea Ripley is reportedly on the shelf again. WWE announced on Wednesday that Ripley is dealing with a fractured right orbital socket, an injury various professional wrestling journalists claim is legitimate.

This would mark Ripley’s second injury this year. WWE staged a segment where women’s world champion Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez attacked Ripley in the NXT parking lot.

“Following last night’s brutal attack at the hands of Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez in the NXT parking lot, Rhea Ripley has suffered a fractured right orbital socket and will be out of action for an undisclosed amount of time,” a statement from WWE’s Twitter reads.

The information was shared in the context of a storyline, but pro wrestling journalists Sean Ross Sapp and Dave Meltzer claim the orbital fracture is legitimate. Sapp specifically claims the X-ray shared by WWE is authentic. It’s not unusual for WWE to use angles to write off superstars recovering from injury.

Ripley’s reported injury is a major blow to WWE Raw. Ripley, who suffered a legitimate arm injury in April during a segment with Morgan, has been feuding over the women’s world championship after returning to television in July.
