Who’s Playing

Colorado State @ New Mexico

Current Records: Colorado State 2-3; New Mexico 2-4

What to Know

The Colorado State Rams are 5-0 against the New Mexico Lobos since November of 2015, and they’ll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. Colorado State and New Mexico will face off in a Mountain West battle at 7 p.m. ET at Dreamstyle Stadium. The Rams will be strutting in after a win while the Lobos will be stumbling in from a defeat.

While not quite a landslide, the contest between Colorado State and the San Jose State Spartans last week was still a pretty decisive one as Colorado State wrapped it up with a 32-14 victory at home. Colorado State QB Todd Centeio was slinging it as he passed for one TD and 226 yards on 22 attempts in addition to picking up 37 yards on the ground. Near the top of the highlight reel was Centeio’s 60-yard TD bomb to WR Ty McCullouch in the third quarter.

Special teams collected 20 points for Colorado State. K Cayden Camper delivered a perfect 6-for-6 game.

Meanwhile, the Lobos were expected to have a tough go of it last week, and that’s exactly how things played out. They suffered a grim 31-7 defeat to the San Diego State Aztecs. QB Terry Wilson had a memorable game, but not in the way you want to be remembered: besides failing to produce a single touchdown, he threw one interception with only 127 yards passing.

The Rams are the favorite in this one, with an expected 10.5-point margin of victory. They might be worth taking a chance on against the spread as they are currently on a three-game streak of ATS wins.

Colorado State is now 2-3 while the Lobos sit at 2-4. A couple defensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: Colorado State is stumbling into the game with the 168th most passing touchdowns allowed in the nation, having given up eight on the season. New Mexico has experienced some struggles of their own as they are 220th worst in the nation in rushing touchdowns allowed, with 11 on the season. It’s possible one of these Achilles’ heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
