Who’s Playing

Stanford @ Washington State

Current Records: Stanford 3-3; Washington State 3-3

What to Know

The Stanford Cardinal are 1-4 against the Washington State Cougars since October of 2015, but they’ll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Cardinal and Washington State will face off in a Pac-12 battle at 7:30 p.m. ET at Clarence D. Martin Stadium. The Cougars will be strutting in after a win while Stanford will be stumbling in from a loss.

Stanford received a tough blow last Friday as they fell 28-10 to the Arizona State Sun Devils. QB Tanner McKee had a memorable game, but not in the way you want to be remembered: despite one touchdown, he threw three interceptions. That was the first 300+ yard effort for McKee this season.

Meanwhile, Washington State beat the Oregon State Beavers 31-24 last week. Washington State’s QB Jayden de Laura did his thing and passed for three TDs and 399 yards on 46 attempts. Near the top of the highlight reel was de Laura’s 55-yard TD bomb to WR Joey Hobert in the third quarter.

This next matchup is expected to be close, with the Cardinal going off at just a 1.5-point favorite. Those burned by picking them against the spread last week might want to keep in mind that the squad has not yet dropped back-to-back games against the spread this season.

Stanford and the Cougars now sit at an identical 3-3. Two stats to keep an eye on: Stanford is stumbling into the contest with the 187th most thrown interceptions in the nation, having thrown five on the season. Washington State has experienced some struggles of their own as they are 242nd worst in the nation in thrown interceptions, having thrown nine on the season. It’s possible one of these Achilles’ heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
