The Premier League served up some incredible drama on Saturday as Leicester City beat Manchester United 4-2 and Wolverhampton Wanderers came back from the dead to win 3-2 away at Aston Villa.

Both matches witnessed high drama in the final 12 minutes as the Foxes and Wolves scored three times apiece in two high-scoring encounters.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men were 1-0 up at King Power Stadium through Mason Greenwood until Youri Tielemans pulled Leicester level on the half hour but it took until the 78th minute for Caglar Soyuncu to put the hosts in front.

That was the signal for a made finish as Marcus Rashford scored on his return to action to level at 2-2 only for Jamie Vardy to quickly restore the lead from Ayoze Perez’s second assist in five minutes and it was left for Patson Daka to put the result beyond any doubt in added time.

The three points will relieve Brendan Rodgers after Leicester’s slow start to the season while the pressure mounts for Solskjaer with a third defeat in five matches across all competitions.

At Villa Park, Danny Ings and John McGinn had put the host in control despite the flattering nature of their lead only for Dean Smith to watch his team throw it all away by conceding three late goals.

Romain Saiss started the fightback on 80 minutes before Conor Coady levelled five minutes later and in a twist of further drama, Ruben Neves snatched the win at the death for Bruno Lage’s men to boost Wolves up into the top half of the table and above Villa.

Atalanta at home in the UEFA Champions League now cannot come quickly enough for United but next week’s clash with Liverpool at Old Trafford has the potential to be a defining moment for Solskjaer.
