What to Know
After three games on the road, the Indianapolis Colts are heading back home. Indianapolis and the Houston Texans will face off in an AFC South battle at 1 p.m. ET next Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium. The Colts won both of their matches against Houston last season (26-20 and 27-20) and are aiming for the same result this time around.
Indianapolis fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Baltimore Ravens on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result, falling 31-25. Indianapolis was up 22-9 at the end of the third quarter but couldn’t hold on to the lead. A silver lining for them was the play of RB Jonathan Taylor, who punched in one rushing touchdown in addition to catching three passes for one TD and 116 yards. That receiving effort made it the first game that Taylor has posted more than 100 yards receiving.
Meanwhile, Houston was first on the board but had to settle for second at the end of their matchup against the New England Patriots on Sunday. It was close but no cigar for the Texans as they fell 25-22 to New England. Despite the defeat, Houston got a solid performance out of QB Davis Mills, who passed for three TDs and 312 yards on 29 attempts. Mills’ performance made up for a slower contest against the Buffalo Bills last week.
The losses bumped both teams down to an identical 1-4. Two numbers to keep in mind before kickoff: Indianapolis comes into the matchup boasting the fewest thrown interceptions in the NFL at two. As for Houston, they rank first in the league when it comes to forced fumbles, having caused eight on the season.
