What to Know
The San Francisco 49ers have had a week off and are no doubt ready to get back on the field. They will take on the Indianapolis Colts at 8:20 p.m. ET next Sunday at Levi’s Stadium. San Francisco is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
The 49ers came within a touchdown against the Arizona Cardinals last week, but they wound up with a 17-10 loss. San Francisco’s only offensive touchdown came from WR Deebo Samuel.
Meanwhile, Indianapolis entered their contest on Sunday as the heavy favorite, and they fully lived up to the hype. Everything went their way against the Houston Texans as they made off with a 31-3 win. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Indianapolis had established a 24-3 advantage. RB Jonathan Taylor continued his habit of dropping crazy stat lines, rushing for two TDs and 145 yards on 14 carries. Taylor’s longest run was for 83 yards in the third quarter. Taylor’s sharp performance set his single-game rushing touchdown high for the season.
San Francisco is now 2-3 while the Colts sit at 2-4. Two stats to keep an eye on: The 49ers enter the matchup with only three thrown interceptions, good for fourth best in the league. But Indianapolis is even better: they rank first in the NFL when it comes to thrown interceptions, with only two on the season. So expect both teams to feel comfortable airing the ball out.
