Through 1 Quarter

The Fresno State Bulldogs are ahead after one, as expected, but they’ll have to keep working the rest of the way. they have a bit of a cushion as they currently lead the Nevada Wolf Pack 14-3 after one quarterThe Bulldogs have been riding high on the performance of RB Ronnie Rivers, who has rushed for one TD and 80 yards on three carries.

Fresno State has been led by Rivers, who so far has rushed for one TD and 80 yards on three carries. That touchdown — a 64-yard rush in the first quarter — was one of the highlights of the matchup.

Fresno State and Nevada came into this contest with previous-game wins. It’s looking like Fresno State will be able to keep the momentum, but Nevada still has three quarters to right the ship.

What to Know

The Nevada Wolf Pack have enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they must head out on the road. Nevada and the Fresno State Bulldogs will face off in a Mountain West battle at 7 p.m. ET Saturday at Bulldog Stadium. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous games.

The Wolf Pack didn’t have too much trouble with the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors at home last week as they won 34-17. Nevada can attribute much of their success to RB Toa Taua, who punched in two rushing touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Fresno State got themselves on the board against the Wyoming Cowboys last week, but Wyoming never followed suit. Fresno State captured a comfortable 17 to nothing victory. No one had a standout game offensively for the Bulldogs, but they got scores from WR Jalen Cropper and TE Juan Rodriguez.

Fresno State’s defense was a force to be reckoned with, as it collected four interceptions and one fumble. DB Evan Williams picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown.

The Wolf Pack are expected to lose this next one by 3.5. Those who got lucky with them against the spread last week might want to hold off on placing bets this time since the team has yet to string together back-to-back wins against the spread.

Nevada is now 5-1 while the Bulldogs sit at 5-2. Two offensive numbers to keep in mind before kickoff: Nevada is stumbling into the contest with the 225th fewest rushing yards per game in the nation, having accrued only 85.3 on average. Fresno States have had an even harder time: they are 156th worst in the nation in rushing yards per game, with only 129.1 on average. Yards on the ground might be a real commodity in this one.
