The Green Bay Packers are dealing with a minor COVID-19 outbreak, and one of their best players has been affected. On Monday, the Packers announced that they had placed All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams on the reserve/COVID-19 list. It is unknown if he tested positive or was a close contact.

This development calls Adams’ status for the Packers’ Week 7 matchup against the undefeated Arizona Cardinals on Thursday night into question. According to the NFL, vaccinated players who are asymptomatic may return once they have recorded two negative tests taken at least 24 hours apart. Vaccinated players who are symptomatic must also return two negative tests taken at least 24 hours apart, but also must be asymptomatic for 48 hours. Unvaccinated individuals must isolate for 10 days.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur told reporters earlier on Monday that the team was in advanced COVID-19 protocols due to potential spread related to defensive coordinator Joe Barry’s positive test. According to Rapoport, all team meetings are virtual and the players are wearing masks.

Adams is the Packers’ primary offensive weapon, and he currently ranks third in the NFL in receptions and in yards. His loss would be a huge one for Green Bay, and the “Thursday Night Football” line over at Caesars Sportsbook has already increased almost three full points today from Arizona -3.5 to Arizona -6.
