The Denver Nuggets will take on the Dallas Mavericks at 10 p.m. ET Friday at Ball Arena after having had a few days off. Dallas will be strutting in after a victory while the Nuggets will be stumbling in from a loss.
The contest between Denver and the Utah Jazz on Tuesday was not a total blowout, but with Denver falling 122-110 on the road, it was darn close to turning into one. Despite the defeat, Denver got a solid performance out of center Nikola Jokic, who had 24 points and six assists along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn’t a dominant performance, Dallas beat the San Antonio Spurs 104-99 on Thursday. The Mavericks’ success was spearheaded by the efforts of power forward Maxi Kleber, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards in addition to six blocks, and point guard Jalen Brunson, who had 19 points and five assists along with seven rebounds.
Barring any buzzer beaters, the Nuggets are expected to win a tight contest. But bettors beware: they are 0-2 against the spread when favored.
Denver is now 2-2 while Dallas sits at 3-1. Two offensive numbers to keep in mind before tip-off: Denver ranks first in the league when it comes to field goal percentage, with 48.80% on the season. On the other end of the spectrum, the Mavericks have only been able to knock down 41.80% percent of their shots, which is the third lowest field goal percentage in the league. We’ll see if the Nuggets’ 7% advantage translates to a win.
