Los Angeles @ Portland
Current Records: Los Angeles 1-3; Portland 2-2
What to Know
The Portland Trail Blazers haven’t won a game against the Los Angeles Clippers since March 12 of 2019, but they’ll be looking to end the drought Friday. The Trail Blazers will play host again and welcome Los Angeles to Moda Center at the Rose Quarter, where tip-off is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET. Rip City should still be feeling good after a big win, while the Clippers will be looking to get back in the win column.
Everything went Rip City’s way against the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday as they made off with a 116-96 victory. The oddsmakers were on Rip City’s side, but they didn’t give the team enough credit as the margin was unexpectedly wide. They relied on the efforts of center Jusuf Nurkic, who had 17 points in addition to eight rebounds, and shooting guard CJ McCollum, who had 25 points along with six boards.
Meanwhile, Los Angeles lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers at home by a decisive 92-79 margin. Small forward Paul George wasn’t much of a difference maker for Los Angeles; PG13 picked up four fouls and turned the ball over four times en route to a 6-for-20, 12-point finish.
Portland is now 2-2 while Los Angeles sits at 1-3. Two numbers to keep in mind before tip-off: Rip City has allowed their opponents an average of 10.5 steals per game, the second most in the league. To make matters even worse for Rip City, the Clippers rank first in the league when it comes to steals per game, with 12.5 on average. In other words, the Trail Blazers will need to work extra hard to take care of the ball.
