Seahawks vs. Jaguars odds, line, how to watch, live stream: 2021 NFL picks, Week 8 proven model predictions

The Jacksonville Jaguars (1-5) notched their first win of the Trevor Lawrence and Urban Meyer era in England two weeks ago, and are looking for their second this week against the Seattle Seahawks (2-5). The Seahawks have been floundering this season without quarterback Russell Wilson, who is recovering from surgery on his finger. In two of the three games that Geno Smith has started in his place, he has thrown for fewer than 170 yards, but the Jaguars’ defense has given up the 10th-most passing yards in the NFL and is tied with Kansas City for the fewest sacks with eight. Week 8 NFL picks for Seahawks vs. Jaguars

Before entering any Jaguars vs. Seahawks picks, you’ll want to see the NFL predictions from the advanced computer model at SportsLine. The model, which simulates every NFL game 10,000 times, is up almost $7,700 for $100 players on top-rated NFL picks since its inception six-plus years ago. The model enters Week 8 of the 2021 season on an incredible 126-85 run on top-rated NFL picks that dates back to the 2017 season.

The model also ranked in the top 10 on NFLPickWatch four of the past five years on straight-up NFL picks and beat more than 94 percent of CBS Sports Football Pick’em players four times during that span. Anyone who has followed it is way up.

For Jaguars vs. Seahawks, the model is picking Seattle to cover the 3.5-point spread in well over 50 percent of simulations. The Jaguars have only played in Seattle three times, the most recent of which came in 2013, when Wilson threw four touchdowns and the Seahawks rolled to a 45-17 win. Their last meeting came in 2017, when Jacksonville won a wild 30-24 game at TIAA Bank Stadium.

Even with a bye week in between, the trip to Seattle makes for two significant travel games in a row for the Jaguars. Not only is Seattle without Wilson, it has also been without its starting running back, Chris Carson, since Week 5 with a neck injury. Even though Jacksonville has struggled this season, the circumstances in Week 8 have all the ingredients for the Jaguars to come out flat. The combination of picking up their first win in dramatic fashion ahead of playing a down team missing key players is a textbook formula for lacking the intensity needed to win in a tough road environment.

Meanwhile, with Smith at the helm, the Seahawks have been playing tough, albeit in three consecutive losses. In back-to-back weeks, Seattle lost a pair of games by a field goal, the first of which came in overtime against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Last week, they held New Orleans running back Alvin Kamara to just 51 yards rushing on 20 carries, but came up just short in a 13-10 loss.
