Fantasy Football Rankings Week 9, 2021: Proven model says start Michael Pittman Jr., sit Kyler Murray

Fantasy Football Rankings Week 9, 2021: Proven model says start Michael Pittman Jr., sit Kyler Murray

In his first career NFL start, Jets quarterback Mike White threw for over 400 yards and three touchdowns. White’s big day helped New York win its second game of the season, but where will he land in the Week 9 Fantasy football rankings? White and the Jets have a quick turnaround and face the Colts on Thursday Night Football. Is White a legitimate streaming option if you have Tom Brady, who’s on a bye this week, as your starting quarterback?

The Colts are giving up 243.6 passing yards per game, so White could be among the top streaming options in the Week 9 Fantasy football QB rankings. Which other quarterbacks have exploitable Fantasy football matchups that can help you win? Before you lock in your Week 9 Fantasy football lineups, be sure to check out the Week 9 Fantasy football rankings from the proven computer model at SportsLine.

When it comes to ranking players, SportsLine’s model beat human experts in Fantasy football for the past several seasons especially when there were big differences in ranking. Over the course of a season, that could literally be the difference between winning your league or going home empty-handed.

Last week, the model was extremely high on Rams running back Darrell Henderson, saying he’d finish as a top-five player at his position. The result: Henderson recorded over 90 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns against the Texans. Anybody who had him in their lineup was well on their way to a huge week.

Now, the model, which simulates every NFL game 10,000 times, has revealed its Fantasy football rankings for Week 9 of the 2021 NFL season. Head to SportsLine now to see them.

Top Week 9 Fantasy football picks

One player the model is extremely high on this week: Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. Indianapolis’ wideout has been on a tear in recent weeks, scoring at least one touchdown in three of his last four games. He’s coming off a strong performance against the Titans, recording 10 receptions for 86 yards and two scores.

Pittman and the Colts get another mouthwatering matchup against the Jets in Week 9, a team that’s giving up 42.5 points per game over their last two contests. SportsLine’s model ranks Pittman as a top-10 wide receiver this week, making him a rock-solid WR1.

And a massive shocker: Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray, who’s thrown for 2,276 yards and 17 touchdowns, stumbles big-time and doesn’t even crack the top 15 at his position. Murray has thrown three or more touchdown passes in two of his last three games, but his rushing numbers have steadily declined in recent weeks. In fact, Murray has failed to crack 25 rushing yards in his last four outings after scoring three rushing touchdowns in the first three weeks.

Now, Murray and the Cardinals will face-off against the 49ers, one of the NFL’s stingiest defenses. San Francisco is giving up just 196.9 passing yards per game, which ranks third in the league. Plus, Murray has thrown just one touchdown pass in his last two meetings against the Niners. With such a tough matchup on Sunday, Murray is a player to consider putting on the bench in Week 9.

How to set your Week 9 Fantasy football rankings

The model is also calling for a surprising quarterback you aren’t even thinking about to finish in the top 10 of its Fantasy football rankings. This pick could be the difference between winning big and going home with nothing. You can only see who it is here.
