World Series best bets, props for Astros vs. Braves Game 6: Back the over with DH spot back in play in Houston

World Series best bets, props for Astros vs. Braves Game 6: Back the over with DH spot back in play in Houston

HOUSTON — Game 6 of the 2021 World Series between the Houston Astros and Atlanta Braves is set for Tuesday night in Minute Maid Park. The Astros offense woke up and brought them back after an early grand slam in Game 5, so can they keep that going and give us a Game 7? Let’s find out!

As has been and will continue to be the case, I’m doing the game picks over on SportsLine. I’ve gone 22-11-1 thus far in the playoffs — so hop on over there and subscribe

In this space, we’ll focus on props, the over/under and other fun.

Over 8.5, -120

I like that the Astros get the DH spot back and can get Yordan Alvarez out of left field and into his comfort zone with the DH. I like that they are fighting to stay alive just two days after their bats woke up. They were 4 for 32 with runners in scoring position through the first four games and the most predictive thing from that equation is the traffic. They were bound to start getting those hits and it happened in Game 5. Max Fried is on extra rest, but he’s also far beyond his career high workload, the Astros eat lefties and hit him in Game 2.

On the flip side, I don’t trust anyone on the Astros pitching staff to hold down the Braves offense at this point in the series. I wonder if the slightly cold and rainy atmosphere is ultimately what held us under in Games 3 and 4, too. Now we’ve got great weather and the roof. Bet on runs.

As everyone knows I like to say, it doesn’t even have to be an explosion. A 5-4 final gets us home.

Luis Garcia over 3.5 strikeouts, -150

As noted, I don’t really trust the Astros pitching staff, so this might seem like a contradiction. No, it’s because I think the Astros are scoring runs early and need to get length from Garcia. Plus, he only lasted 3 2/3 innings in his first start in the series and still struck out six. He struck out seven in his Game 6 ALCS start. The Braves can hit, but they’ll swing and miss. They’ve struck out 52 times through five games in this series.

Bonus: Carlos Correa home run, +500

Correa has gone 1 for 3 in his career against Fried, for those curious. I don’t really have much data here. Correa is good, he hits lefties well, he’s seen a lot of the Braves’ bullpen this series and he was a stud in Game 5. I like this swings. As such, we’re taking the ride here. It’s tough to hit on homers anyway, so a gut feeling easily overrides any data.
