Who’s Playing

Houston @ Phoenix

Current Records: Houston 1-6; Phoenix 3-3

What to Know

The Houston Rockets have been on the wrong side of a one-way rivalry with the Phoenix Suns and are hoping to record their first win since Dec. 21 of 2019. The Rockets are on the road again on Thursday and play against Phoenix at 10 p.m. ET Nov. 4 at Footprint Center. If the contest is anything like Phoenix’s 126-120 victory from their previous meeting in April, the scorekeeper will be kept real busy.

Houston was close but no cigar on Tuesday as they fell 119-117 to the Los Angeles Lakers. The losing side was boosted by power forward Christian Wood, who posted a double-double on 26 points and 16 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Phoenix didn’t have too much trouble with the New Orleans Pelicans at home on Tuesday as they won 112-100. The victory came about thanks to a strong surge after the first quarter to overcome a 36-22 deficit. Phoenix relied on the efforts of point guard Chris Paul, who dropped a double-double on 18 dimes and 14 points in addition to seven boards, and power forward Frank Kaminsky, who had 17 points.

The Rockets are the clear underdogs, so they’re hoping it’s the size of the fight that determines this one. The odds have been favorable for them against the spread on the road this season, even if it’s been tough sledding overall. They are 3-1 ATS in away games but only 4-3 all in all.

Phoenix’s victory lifted them to 3-3 while Houston’s defeat dropped them down to 1-6. We’ll see if the Suns can repeat their recent success or if Houston bounces back and reverse their fortune.
