The Boston College Eagles have exploded for seven points against Virginia Tech’s defense, already eclipsing their previous tally against the Syracuse Orange last week. The Eagles have jumped out to a quick 7 to nothing lead against Virginia Tech.

BC has enjoyed the tag-team combination of QB Phil Jurkovec and RB Pat Garwo III. The former has punched in one rushing touchdown, while the latter has picked up 40 yards on the ground on ten carries.

What to Know

An ACC battle is on tap between the Virginia Tech Hokies and the Boston College Eagles at 7:30 p.m. ET Friday at Alumni Stadium. Virginia Tech should still be riding high after a win, while BC will be looking to right the ship.

The Hokies were able to grind out a solid victory over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets last week, winning 26-17. The team ran away with 20 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those in the second to pick up the win. Virginia Tech’s success was spearheaded by the efforts of WR Tre Turner, who caught seven passes for one TD and 187 yards, and QB Braxton Burmeister, who passed for two TDs and 248 yards on 25 attempts in addition to picking up 48 yards on the ground. One of the most thrilling moments was Turner’s 69-yard TD reception in the first quarter.

Most of the squad’s points came courtesy of special teams, which contributed 14. K John Parker Romo delivered a perfect 4-for-4 game.

Meanwhile, the contest between BC and the Syracuse Orange last week was not a total blowout, but with BC falling 21-6 on the road, it was darn close to turning into one.

This next matchup is expected to be close, with the Hokies going off at just a 2.5-point favorite. Those who got lucky with them against the spread last week might want to hold off on placing bets this time since the squad has yet to string together back-to-back wins against the spread.

Virginia Tech’s win brought them up to 4-4 while the Eagles’ loss pulled them down to an identical 4-4. A pair of offensive stats to keep an eye on: Virginia Tech is stumbling into the game with the 189th fewest yards per game in the nation, having accrued only 311.8 on average. BC has experienced some struggles of their own as they are 134th worst in the nation in passing yards per game, with only 213.8 on average. It’s possible one of these Achilles’ heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
