Through 3 Quarters

The San Jose State Spartans typically have all the answers at home, but the Nevada Wolf Pack are posing a tough problem. After three quarters neither squad has the matchup in the bag, but the Wolf Pack lead 17-14.

Nevada has been riding high on the performance of RB Toa Taua, who has picked up 50 yards on the ground on 13 carries. RB Tyler Nevens has led the way so far for SJSU, as he has picked up 98 yards on the ground on 11 carries in addition to snatching one receiving TD.

SJSU hasn’t lost 80% of the games in which they were down heading into the final period this season, so a victory here would be refreshing.

What to Know

The Nevada Wolf Pack and the San Jose State Spartans will face off in a Mountain West clash at 10 p.m. ET Nov. 6 at Clarence Mackay Stadium. Nevada is out to keep their four-game home win streak alive.

The Wolf Pack made easy work of the UNLV Rebels last Friday and carried off a 51-20 victory. With Nevada ahead 20 to nothing at the half, the game was all but over already. Their QB Carson Strong did his thing and passed for four TDs and 417 yards on 49 attempts.

Nevada’s defense was a presence as well, as it got past UNLV’s offensive line to sack QB Cameron Friel five times for a total loss of 33 yards. Leading the way was DT Tristan Nichols and his two sacks. Nichols now has seven sacks this season.

Meanwhile, SJSU didn’t have too much breathing room in their matchup with the Wyoming Cowboys last week, but they still walked away with a 27-21 win. The Spartans’ QB Nick Nash was on fire, passing for one TD and 150 yards on 22 attempts in addition to rushing for one TD and 112 yards.

The Wolf Pack are the favorite in this one, with an expected 11.5-point margin of victory. They are currently three-for-three against the spread in their most recent games, a trend bettors might want to take into account.

The wins brought Nevada up to 6-2 and SJSU to 5-4. A pair of offensive stats to keep an eye on: Nevada is 225th worst in the nation in rushing yards per game, with only 85.3 on average. SJSUs have had an even harder time: they are stumbling into the contest with the 166th fewest rushing yards per game in the nation, having accrued only 121.4 on average. Yards on the ground might be a real commodity in this one.
