Kentucky took over the No. 1 spot in the national recruiting rankings for the 2022 cycle late Sunday after it added a five-star commitment — its fourth in the class — from top-10 talent Cason Wallace. Wallace, a 6-foot-4 guard from Texas, chose the Wildcats as he’d long been expected to do over a final group of suitors that included Texas, Tennessee and UTSA.

The Wildcats supplanted Duke to seize the top spot in the class for the time being. Both Duke and Kentucky have four commitments each but the Wildcats are the only program in the country with four five-star commitments.

Wallace is the third top-10 player in the 2022 class to commit to Kentucky, the fourth commitment to the school in the cycle and the fourth five-star. He joins a star-studded class led by No. 1 recruit Shaedon Sharpe, No. 6 recruit Chris Livingston and No. 17 recruit Skyy Clark, who has been committed to the Wildcats for over a year.

The last school to sign four five-star recruits in the same class was Duke in 2020 with no players ranked inside the top-10 of that class. Duke was also the last school to sign at least three top-10 recruits in the same class as part of a 2018 haul that included Zion Williamson, RJ Barrett and Cameron Reddish.
