A highly coveted small forward from the Class of 2022 will make his college commitment live Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS Sports HQ, when Kimani Hamilton announces his decision from a group of finalists that includes Alabama, Mississippi State and Ole Miss. Hamilton is considered a four-star prospect and is ranked the No. 87 overall player in the class by 247Sports. Mississippi State is considered the favorite to land Hamilton according to the 247Sports Crystal Ball. The 6-foot-8 prospect from Clinton, Mississippi averaged 16.2 points and 8.1 rebounds for a state championship-winning Clinton High School team last season. He played his AAU ball for Team Thad, which was co-founded by NBA veteran Thaddeus Young.
Hamilton shot up the recruiting rankings after emerging as an “extremely impressive” wing while playing for Team Thad in recent months, according to 247Sports national basketball director Eric Bossi. Here is Bossi’s evaluation of Hamilton from May.
Hamilton is a plus athlete with length who is one of the more versatile defenders in the class. He can be moved around on the offensive end, plays above the rim and makes open shots.
