Combate Global picks for Nov. 12 lightweight tournament

Before tuning into Friday’s tournament, you need to see the picks from SportsLine’s MMA insider Andrew Gombas. With more than 1,200 selections tracked by the third-party monitoring service Bet MMA, Gombas has shown a 10 percent return on investment for his followers. In 2020, $100 bettors who tailed his picks were up $9,200.

For Friday’s Combate Global lightweight tournament, Gombas is backing Cristian Perez to beat Daniel Soto in one of the Team Mexico quarterfinal matchups. Perez is a 22-year-old lightweight who fights out of Ensenada and is a perfect 6-0. All six of his professional fights have come in Combate.

While anything can happen in a one-round fight, Perez’s four consecutive first-round stops heading into this fight give him an upper hand. Perez has finished all four of those opponents by submission and also had a third-round submission victory to begin his career. Meanwhile, Soto has been submitted four times in his career.
