What to Know

Get ready for an SEC battle as the South Carolina Gamecocks and the Missouri Tigers will face off at 4 p.m. ET Saturday at Memorial Stadium at Faurot Field. USC will be strutting in after a victory while Mizzou will be stumbling in from a loss.

The Florida Gators typically have all the answers at home, but last week the Gamecocks proved too difficult a challenge. USC was the clear victor by a 40-17 margin over Florida. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 30-10. USC got their win on the backs of several key players, and it was RB Kevin Harris out in front picking up 128 yards on the ground on 16 carries. That nimble footwork stands out as the first time Harris has hit the 100-yard rushing mark this season.

Special teams collected 16 points for the Gamecocks. K Parker White delivered a perfect 4-for-4 game.

Meanwhile, the Tigers played a game they are hoping to forget as they lost a 43-6 blowout to the Georgia Bulldogs last week. Mizzou was in a tough position by the half, with the score already sitting at 26-3.

This next contest is expected to be close, with USC going off at just a 1.5-point favorite. Those who got lucky with them against the spread last week might want to hold off on placing bets this time since the squad has yet to string together back-to-back wins against the spread.

USC’s win brought them up to 5-4 while Mizzou’s defeat pulled them down to a reciprocal 4-5. A pair of defensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: The Gamecocks are stumbling into the contest with the 163rd most rushing touchdowns allowed in the nation, having given up 12 on the season. Mizzou has experienced some rushing struggles of their own as they are 241st worst in the nation in rushing yards allowed per game, with 271 on average. It’s possible one of these Achilles’ heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
